The Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring has a pitch of 0.8mm and prevents follow focus,

Regular photo lenses don’t have gears around the focus ring, making them incompatible with cinema follow focuses used for smooth focus transitions in videography. The Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring solves this problem.

Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Measure Your Lens: You first need to find the right size ring. Tilta offers various sizes, so you’ll need to measure your lens’s diameter 46.5/90mm (the focus ring, not the filter thread).
  2. Slip it On: The Tilta ring is a flexible band with teeth running along its entire inner surface. This band simply stretches over your lens’s focus ring, creating a custom gear track.
  3. Seamless Connection: Unlike some gear rings with gaps, Tilta’s design provides a complete 360-degree gear surface. This eliminates snags and ensures a smooth connection with your follow focus.
  4. Precise Focus Control: Now, when you turn the follow focus knob,
    such as the Tiltaing Mini Follow Focus  or the  Tilta Nucleus Nano ii  it will rotate into precise adjustments of your lens’s focus.

Tip from Flip:

If its to tight, warm it up with boiling water, this will give it a bit more flex for easy fitment.
